Delegates adopt new policies, elect officers

The KMS Annual Meeting was held last weekend in Wichita. On Friday, more than 200 physicians attended the KaMMCO-sponsored education program which focused on health information technology and the emergence of a health information exchange in Kansas. That evening, Craig Concannon, MD (Internal Medicine-Beloit) was installed as the KMS President for 2010-2011.

On Saturday, the KMS House of Delegates convened for its annual policy-making session. The delegates reaffirmed a number of current KMS policies including those which:

Additionally, the House approved two resolutions to be forwarded to the AMA for consideration at its Annual Meeting in June; one resolution addressed the issue of hospice services provided to Medicare beneficiaries and the other asks the AMA to work with relevant stakeholders to limit the amount of information required of residency directors when verifying a residents’ completion of the program.
