Federal agency action or lack of action is also a concern of KMS. Administrators of federal agencies commonly have much discretion in developing rules and regulations and implementing policy directives passed into law by Congress. KMS interests at the federal level are no less important, though far less visible and far more formally expressed. KMS also works with other state medical societies and associations to maximize the strength of our efforts. Administration of federal programs is increasingly complex because of the tremendous range of responsibilities that agencies have undertaken and the need to organize and direct millions of employees and control the expenditure of huge sums of money.
